Tech and Markets — how an analyst sees it

I just watched a presentation on “tech coming in 2021” by Benedict Evans, a very smart analyst I’ve followed for a while, grabbing some slides that were interesting.  I thought I’d share some of them.

First, he was talking about how the falling prices of EV battery storage were driving the market capitalization numbers of Tesla and other EV manufacturers:

And scale added improvements and other benefits

He then made observations about the cost of electric GENERATION from Solar

… and wind

and how that makes them now cheaper than fossil fuel generations.

This next chart is the most important one, IMHO:  It shows the percentage of GHG emissions by sector, and you can see how electric generation and transportation make up almost half of all greenhouse gas emissions.  Further, the orange portion is the easiest/quickest to transition to clean energy sources.

As you know, agricultural emissions are largely methane from animals, and that’s being addressed.

And innovation is working on cement, steel and other “industry” emissions.
