Join the letter-writing party October 21st!
Join CCLers from around Nevada — and invite your friends who are Alarmed or Concerned about climate — for a fun, virtual work/party to ramp up the pressure on Congress. It’ll be a Happy Hour in all senses of the term.
Time: 5 – 6 pm PST on Zoom (meeting link)
BYOS: (bring your own food & drink!)
A good time will be had by all … AND we’ll make a difference.
We know that letters to the editor are a fast and effective way to get our message out to the public and onto the desks of members of Congress, especially when we mention them by name. Sen. Cortez Masto is a key player right now because she is on the Senate Finance Committee, which is currently drafting the language for the Build Back Better budget reconciliation bill that could include a carbon fee. Now is the time to let Sen. Masto know that we want her to support carbon fees.
This party is for anyone who’s been meaning to write an LTE (and any Nevadan who is interested). Charlotte will give us a quick refresh on how to write an effective letter. We’ll have a short discussion about timely and relevant news stories in Nevada that people can write about. Then, everyone will have a chance to do some writing. When multiple people write letters to the editor on the same issue (i.e. carbon fees), it greatly increases the chances of getting published.
So, please plan to join us — add this to your calendar:
