By our calculations, planting a trillion trees would only sequester 6% of the carbon dioxide we need to avoid to limit global warming to 1.5℃ by the end of the century and would require 900 million hectares of land, or nearly three times the size of India. For further information on these conclusions, explore the details behind our analysis.
